BLEACH
Hello, everyone! I know I haven't done a lot of shonen (Boy Manga) anime lately...
Well actually, I've only done one (Naruto)... and that one sucked... yeah... sorry...
But anyway, I wanted to claim back my manhood and do a post on, my 2nd favourite shonen anime of all time (1st being One Piece, guilty pleasure, I know.)...
BLEACH!! I really like this anime. Completely ignoring my old Top 5, I would probably put this in a #7 to #5 spot, depending on how the rest of the 1st season goes. :)
So before I post the intro, I've got to point something out.
"BLEACH" is in the Top 3 most-watched shonen anime in Japan, making it one of the most popular animes out there! Of course, Naruto and One Piece are alongside it, yet even though I like them all okay (One Piece especially...) I feel as if they're both really overrated.
But with this anime, I just didn't get that. Bleach is just a solid anime with a rock-hard-cliche-shonen plot. Nothing more, nothing less.
But sometimes, that's just want you want. I know I was when I watched the first four episodes, because I really, REALLY liked it. A 7, maybe even 8/10.
Now, without further ado, the intro!! (I am really bad at changing the subject.)
Going right into the subject, I'll start with the plot. One of the glitches of the anime.
Ichigo Kurosaki, your typical high schooler, is basically a normal guy with a sweet haircut. This would be true, of course, if it weren't for his supernatural ability to see ghosts. A couple of people in his family can see them too, such as Karin, though she's a constant non-believer who is almost as annoying as the other Karin from Chibi Vampire.
Later in the first episode, Ichigo is in his bed, twiddling his thumbs, when suddenly a mysterious girl comes in his room. After a really funny scene that I won't spoil for you guys, Rukia (the mysterious girl) and Ichigo track a hollow (a ghost who is demented by demon, one of the reasons why the plot is such a shonen cliche) and, once again, after a really cool scene that I don't want to spoil, Rukia explains to Ichigo what happened.
Rukia, as a matter of fact, is a member of a facility called the "Soul Society", a community of basically ninjas (gee, how original) that help other ghosts "pass on" and also protect other ghosts from becoming hollows. As I said before, it's pretty cliche, but they do it really well.
So let's get to the characters.
The main character, Ichigo, is a redhead with an ability to see ghosts, and is a pretty cool character. He isn't sappy and never really cries, but he isn't exactly Guts from Berserk, either. this makes a good balance, and is quite the opposite of the main character in Clannad, Tomoya, who cried almost every episode. Had a good reason to, I guess, but it did get old, after a while.
The main heroine, Rukia, is an aggressive member of the Soul Society who helped Ichigo defeat that hollow I was talking about earlier in the first episode. basically a tomboy, Rukia gave all of her powers to Ichigo while striken down by a hollow. This means Ichigo takes care of the fighting, and Rukia gives advice.
There's also two other characters, Chad and Orihime, who I won't get into, because they're really well done side characters.
But what I feel about the anime altogether? I really dunno, I think it's a great anime, to say the least, but it's not really my type.
But overall, I love the anime, and that's the bottom line. I'd love to talk a little more, but I'm having a Thanksgiving's Eve party soon, Don't wanna miss it!
The A-man is out!
O_o*
*I am awesome.
